Alex Mutumba
My life story is where my vision for starting Fresh Start Ministries International came from. God has brought me so far from the small helpless and hopeless young boy, to who I am now. My calling is to help those who are like me, to find a better way and a better life. I lived with my mother until I was 1 ½ when my father came and took me and left me with his brother. My Uncle raised me along with his children. Life was very challenging as we had little and I wasn’t able to get a good education due to no money for school fees. After my uncle passed away, I was sent to my grandmother. She was a poor farmer and with little resources to care for us. She passed away and I went to stay with other family members, only seeing my father occasionally and believing my mother had passed away. Some days there was money for school fees but most days there was not. So my life was ever changing. Not being allowed a good education left me with little hope for the future. I moved out on my own and began working any job I could. Life was a struggle, many nights I went to bed hungry. At 18 years old I was reconnected with my mother and her family through a miracle that could only be God. Through reconnecting with my mother, who is a Pastor, I became a born again Christian. I came to see that God loved me and cared for my life. Through that experience I began to get involved in church and ministry.
I love to preach the Word of God and help those in need. I want to encourage those who are hopeless and helpless that through God, they can succeed. I want to encourage them and love them, even with the little I have. May God grant the desires of my heart through this ministry! To God be the glory!
Cheryl MutumbaI was born and raised in California by my parents, Mike and Carolyn, along with my brother, Steve. We were raised in church and continue to be involved in church today. At the age of 14, I went on my first overseas missions trip to Malawi, Africa. I fell in love with the African people and dreamed of returning someday. As a young adult I started attending a new church that had a missions trip to Uganda. This was an answer to prayer as it allowed me to go back to Africa and use my skills as a nurse. I continued to go with my church every 6 months. I met my husband there and lived in Uganda for about 9 months. My dream now, through Fresh Start Ministries International, is to reach out to the hopeless and helpless in Uganda. We have many dreams for the future of our ministry and I look forward to seeing how God is going to lead us.
Someday I would love to minister to the women who live on the street. Their only source of income comes from selling themselves and often they find themselves pregnant. Then they deliver on the street and raise their children on the street. I would love to have a home someday to rescue them and teach them life skills to help them sustain themselves off of the street. |

Benon KalyangoBorn in the out skirts of Kampala in Uganda, located in the east of Africa, a banker by profession, I was born and raised by two Christian parents till the year 1998 when one of them (Dad) had to be called by the Lord to eternity. What inspires me to be part of this great move of bringing hope to the hopeless is how so many people in my country live to accomplish so little of their potential while a few seem to move forward against all odds to fulfill their callings in life. I take this opportunity to call upon each one you to come and be a blessing through Fresh Start Ministries International to the people that are suffering, hopeless and helpless have a life that is full of joy again.
Human destiny in its most crude form, is like a garden, when left alone, a garden only grows with useless weeds but when good seeds are sown in it, the ground is well cultivated, and the crops are cared for, the garden teems lively with crops that feed us well. All this inspires me to take a step forward with no hesitation and with full commitment to see and change human destiny as a calling from God. |
Shalom KalyangoI was born in a very small town (Lugazi) in Uganda, am married and a mother of two children, a boy and girl (twins). I was raised by two parents, Pastor Martin and Edith Kikonyogo who managed to take me to school up to university where I obtained a degree in education which makes me a teacher by profession.
What motivates me is the fact that regardless of your religion or lack of it, we are each given talents and gifts that are unique and different from other people’s in order to respond to our particular calling and benefit society. This way, you can make your positive mark on the community we live in. |
Many times the very people shunned by society for being peculiar have turned out to be its heroes whenever we just extend our hand and give them a lift. In this way, we give them back the faded hope and they begin to realize that they are loved and cared for.
You and I can be a blessing to the hopeless through Fresh Start Ministries International.
